About
Known in India as the ‘queen of rice’. Traditionally grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, this aromatic rice has a delicious light nutty flavour. Its grains are longer than plain rice and lengthen further during the cooking process. Rich in B vitamins and fibre.
Uses
Before any method of cooking your basmati brown rice, make sure it is fully rinsed to remove any natural starches. Use a 1:2 ratio of rice to water and bring to the boil in a covered pot. Once boiling, turn down the heat to simmer for about 20 minutes until the rice is cooked through. Drain then gently fluff with a fork and cover to rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
Serve fragrant basmati brown rice as a side dish or as a bed for your homemade curries, stews, stir-fries and slow-cooked meals. Use it in Mexican cooking, either as a base for your chilli or to fill out your tacos, burritos and fajitas.

I love this brown rice, it cooks in the rice cooker in such a short time, unlike some short grain brown rice. I enjoy the subtle flavor and how fluffy it becomes. It is an important staple in my cupboard!
