About
Carob is a tropical pod that contains a sweet, edible pulp. Naturally sweet and nutritious, carob is gluten-free and caffeine-free. It is also low in fat and calories. Carob is commonly substituted for chocolate, however while unsweetened carob may be sweeter than chocolate, it is actually quite earthy also.
Uses
Enjoy carob buttons as a snack on their own or combined with a range of nuts and seeds to make a delicious trail mixture. Roughly chop carob buttons to sprinkle over smoothie bowls, porridge, granola and muesli for a delicious earthy yet sweet flavour addition. Substitute chocolate buttons and chocolate chips for carob buttons in your baking of muffins, cookies, bliss balls and energy bars. Try these creative recipes for Vegan Magnums and Peanut Butter Banana Paddle Pops using carob buttons instead of chocolate. They make the perfect nourishing treat to cool down on those beautiful summer days. Fill a glass jar with carob buttons to gift your foodie loved ones on special occasions.
