Organic Spelt Couscous

Spelt couscous is made simply from tiny grains of steamed spelt that have been organically grown. This nourishing wholefood provides important amounts of protein and dietary fibre in your diet, and is super versatile. It has a slightly nutty flavour, a soft and creamy consistency and can be added into everything from breakfast and dessert dishes through to salads and hearty mains. Spelt couscous is a wonderful grain to keep in the pantry because it has such a short prep time, therefore can be whipped up in a matter of minutes when you are pushed for time.

Uses

To cook spelt couscous, add 1 ½ cups boiling water or stock to 1 cup couscous in a bowl, cover and let sit for 5 minutes then fluff up with a fork before serving. During the fluffing part of this process, you could add a little butter, oil or herbs and spices to give it a little extra punch of flavour. Couscous is ready to serve as an accompaniment to curries, soups and stews or it can act as a meal base in salads. Mix it with your favourite meat, seafood and seasonal veggies then stuff it in sweet potatoes, capsicum or eggplant and bake for a delicious meal for the whole family.
