Poppy Seeds Black

About

These tiny kidney-shaped seeds have been harvested by various civilisations for thousands of years and used as folk remedy to aid sleeping, and promote fertility and wealth. Today, poppy seeds are recognised for various culinary uses, both as intact seeds or ground as a paste. They are used as a spice, a condiment, a decorative garnish, a thickener and a main ingredient. They are also the source of poppy seed oil.

Uses

Poppy seeds can be sprinkled on top of loaves just before they are put in the oven to bake, including banana bread, normal bread, bagels, and even muffins and cookies. Add poppy seeds to your smoothie bowl creations, chia puddings and rice puddings for decoration, or garnish salads, stir-fries and soups with them. Give poppy seeds a go in these Basil & Poppy Seed Scones, a creative take on the classic scone that is perfect to share with a friend over a hot beverage.
