Organic Sunflower Seeds

About

Sunflower seeds have been enjoyed in many cultures for thousands of years. Harvested from organically grown sunflowers, the seeds can be eaten raw, roasted or used for flavour and texture in many recipes. Enjoy a handful of mild, nutty tasting sunflower seeds to take care of your hunger and get a wealth of nutrition and energy at the same time. They are packed full of nutrients including protein, magnesium and vitamin E. Furthermore, sunflower seeds have a high content of selenium, which is particularly important in New Zealand where our soils are low in this key nutrient.

Uses

There is such a huge range of ways to use sunflower seeds. Snack on them on their own or mixed with other nuts, seeds and dried fruits for a deliciously crunchy scroggin. Mix them through homemade granola, muesli or porridge for a great start to your day. Add them to recipes for super seed crackers, raw bread, muffins, energy balls and bars, or any other sweet and savoury creations. Sunflower seeds can also be lightly toasted to add additional flavour as a crunchy salad or hot dish topper.  If you wish to make your own superfood mix, ground sunflower seeds can be combined with ground almonds and linseeds to produce fresh LSA. Ground sunflower seeds can also be added to homemade falafel or veggie burger patties, or used to crumb fish, meat or eggplants for a tasty, contrasting crunch.
