Raw sugar is made from organic cane sugar that has been minimally processed and refined. It is made from cane which has been produced without the use of herbicides, pesticides or artificial fertilisers. It is made by simply pressing out, cleaning and crystallising the juice from organic sugar cane, which may result in natural product variations over time. The light golden colour of raw sugar is due to the presence of natural molasses.
Organic Raw Sugar
Raw sugar is less refined than white sugar and has a yummy taste, perfect for sweetening up hot beverages and baked goods, as well as savoury dishes that need a little contrasting sweetness. Add a teaspoon of raw sugar to tea, coffee, hot chocolate and other superfood lattes. Sprinkle it over steaming porridge, granola, muesli, bircher, rice puddings and chia puddings. Use raw sugar instead of white or rapadura sugar in many sweet and savoury recipes, simply adopting a 1:1 substitute ratio. Raw sugar can be used in homemade kombucha, helping to feed and nourish the SCOBY.
