Organic Popcorn Kernels


This popping corn is sourced direct from a farmer in the Hawke’s Bay who has been certified organic since late last century. He grows his popping corn with nutrient-rich soils, healthy crops and no artificial fertilisers or pesticides. Once you’ve popped your kernels using your favourite oil you have a delicious snack that is full of lauric acid and healthy fats that are good for your heart and energy levels. You can play around with different oils and seasonings to find a flavour that suits your taste preference. Popcorn is a wonderful healthy snack alternative to chippies and of course is an essential for movie nights and entertaining friends.


To make your own popcorn using these kernels, coat the bottom of a pot with a thin layer of your chosen oil and add about a cup of kernels then place a lid on the pot and cook on medium heat for a few minutes. Once you hear that delightful popping sound start up, reduce your heat and shake the pot regularly to avoid burning of any kernels, encouraging them all to pop. Once the popping sound has finished, remove your pot from the heat. Choose your favourite sweet or savoury flavours to mix in with the popcorn and enjoy as a tasty, guilt-free snack. Some flavour toppings you might use are sea salt, vinegar, vanilla extract, coconut sugar, cinnamon, matcha, maple, chilli, curry powder, maca, or anything else that tickles your fancy!
