Organic Brown Lentils
Brown lentils are a huge crowd pleaser for vegetarians; a nourishing and useful filler in many vegetarian and vegan recipes. These brown lentils readily absorb the flavours of surrounding ingredients they are cooked with, making them extra full of flavour and versatile in a huge range of sweet and savoury recipes. They’re great for hot and cold dishes, specifically big hearty hotpots, soups, stews and even light summery salads.
To cook these beauties up, simply add 1 cup of lentils to 4 cups of boiling water, cover and simmer until tender. Cooking time is approximately 20-25 minutes which is about perfect to prep all other ingredients for your dish. Brown lentils are super versatile in the kitchen, particularly as a substitute for meat. They are a nourishing, protein-rich addition to your summer salads, and a hearty wholefood addition to your winter hotpots, soups, stews, Indian curries and even a unique take on the classic shepherd’s pie. With your brown lentils, you can combine them with an array of herbs and spices and blend them into a puree to accompany an antipasti platter or for inclusion in wraps and sandwiches.
